I recently purchased a used ITG-P Line board set and I am trying to determine where it sits in regard to IP Line 1, IP Line 2, and IP Line 3. I would really like to know what is the "precise" distinction between the 3 versions of IP Line. Are the boards different or is it firmware version, etc? Also from my ITG-P board the following appears from the maintenance port and I would like to know whether I have Version 1, 2, or 3. Thanks in advance for any information.
------------
ITG Firmware Rls 4.0
8051XA Firmware Ver 9.0(Pentium) 9th June 1999
All XA internal tests have passed
External RAM test has passed
32K External RAM detected
Testing Dual Port RAM...OK
8K DPRAM detected
Testing DS30 DPRAM...OK
Testing Dongle...No dongle detected
etc...

Being that the date of the firmware is June 1999 I suspect that you have Release 1. I would suggest that you go to the Nortel website and download the latest firmware and Release 2 or greater software. The firmware has to be upgraded before you can upgrade the software. The minimum you will have to do is the setleader command and set an IP addres for ELAN (Management) so that you can talk to it with OTM.

unkalary,
Do you have any idea what is the reason for the display I presented in my other post? I can't "talk" to the board to be able to do anything. Thanks.

Sounds like corrupted firmware on the system. If you just bought it I would return it and look for another one. I cant think of a way to recover from that.

no dongle, could be a clue. sorta need it for your eprom to complete a boot up. that is nortels protection from software re-saleing.

You don't need a dongle for the ITG cards. I've done a guide on Pentium cards, which details on how to change the firmware & software etc.
The problem is that this forum "moderators" don't like to see member's email address's listed (Which I can understand!). Therefore I won't be able to send it out to you.
There is no way that I can send you a private message on this forum!.

Sorry

firebird,
I have seen references to e-mail addresses such as in dave "at" vaxxine.com. I would really appreciate receiving your guide. Barring that, I can set up an ftp area to which you could drop it off. Thanks.
Dave.

That's not me. But I'm also on some of the other Meridian forums
If you are able to send me your address in a cryptic form, I'll send it to you.

firebird,
I already did in the message before. I am dave "at" vaxxine.com. Thanks.
PS> If you want I can make the guide available on a web page for anyone who is interested. Just let me know.
Dave.
