HI EVERYONE,
I am Surayansh Surana, a student of Masters In Information Management and Systems (MIMS) at Monash University(Melbourne). I have been reading messages posted on the forum for couple of weeks, just to get a know how of the group culture. i m really pleased with the professionalism of this group and the expert opinions of the member.
My view is that IT will get very mobile in next five yrs. The concept of wires and cables will be almost completely replaced by the wireless telecommunication. Along with that the extent and complexity of encryption and coding will increase exponentially and will thus provide an enormously secured communication between the involved users.
The method of input to a system will be 100% voice enabled. The Mobile gadgets looking similar to mobile phones with larger screen will allow visual enability to view other userand articles. The horizon of "buying of goods & services without actually feeling it(or doing so in person)" will elaborate to very expensive goods like property, houses around the globe. With the help of 3d view of the property, possibility of zoom in or zoom out through it, ability to change colours or furniture etc and with the comments of the reputeted global property brokers the buying experience will be even better than physically buing it.
This is a view taking in consideration the pace of growth in IT around the globe.
Please reply what do u think in this respect
Thanks
Surayansh Surana

hi group members
i appreciate the concept of mobile advancement in the field of IT. but the mobile telecommunication has been very insecured so far. so looking at it the dependence of IT on mobile technology may be questionable?

I do not see wireless communication completely replacing wires... ever. I foresee it being used along side, but the practicality of communicating over the airwaves with absolute security is absurd.

People took to using cell phones for "Privacy", then discovered they were less secure than POTS.

The current cost of a cable from Point A to Point B is $xxx.xx per month, wheras the current cost of wireless is $.xx per minute. I can use a wire ALL MONTH for the same price, whereas I have to limit my time with wireless.

People are not going to look at a 3-d house on their palm-pilot or whatever to buy a house. They MIGHT do that from their home PC on a 17+inch monitor, where they can appreciate the details a little better. How many people buy a house because it has nice trim? How can you view trim well on a palm-pilot, or something else that small?

I don't believe that portable equipment will go any further than it is now, with these exceptions: Documents requiring signatures (i.e. custom contracts downloaded in the field), and e-books.

Anyway, that's just my two cents...

I m working for one of the major telecommunication companies of Australia at the moment. we are undergoing three different large scale projects for maximising the usage of wireless communication and ensuring the security of the same, this will atlast make the security tough enough to handle transfer of confidential Information.
I understand that with the advent of WAP technology, most of the big companies are targeting other wireless possibilities as next hot cake.

Hi group members,
thanks for participating in the discussion scope of IT in next 5 yrs. i think the concept of having communication protocol changed to wireless seems not that realistic. But if we look at it technology has always changed the expectations for future. Like if u recall few decades agao when their were only huge computers and IBM announced that It is impossible to advertise the use of personal computers & its difficult to profitably sell Personal computers.
and today we can see whats the situation. Even ahead of Personal computers, Slim laptops having decent speed and storage capability are in place.
so we never know, it has happened time and again where technology has changed the meaning and way of looking at social and commercial life.
Also with work getting more and time to do each job is reducing, The decisions as big as buying a house may also be taken through mobile gadgets. The other advantages would be it may contain the reviews of famous estate agents. and gives a view on what the real worth of property is. also as it will provide the zoom in facilities in a 3d interface to get the complete view of the property or house.

pls reply your views
Thanks
Surayansh Surana

Hi all,
This is the first time that I join in this discussion group. I agreed with Surana that technology has always changed very fast, faster than anyone can expect. Sometimes, it can break through an impossibility or limitation. Technology is very common to everybody more and more. For example, I don't think no one don't know computer nowsaday. And I also think that security will be developed together with the advance of technology.
