The unprecedented boom india has seen during 95-01 was due to adoptation of high technlogy in advanced and first world countries and mainly the USA.

Because India as such is a very poor and third world country, there is no as such wide acceptance of new technology in every segment of every industry.

So people here employed mainly because of tech work given by advanced countries and there now it is a point of saturation. As it happens in every industry.

So what I ask is there is a very very few chances that
again tech work start coming to Indian shores. In fact I dont see any logical reasoning behind this.

So people will remain limited to only some good companies support IT divisions.Or a very few companies which have established themselves in exports for years like InfoSys.

Other people will have to shift to other directions sooner or later.
For example Miss Biswas 12 HSC topper 2001 Bombay has pursued IT. Or Topper from my town too has pursued IT in year 2001.Where all this "Cream" people will go as no body knows what is going to happen to IT industry in India ??

Throw some insights. Rushi Shroff Rushi@emqube.com

Generally when the market "goes south" the need for importing skilled labor is reduced. which should create a situation where india will have at its desposal an abundance of skilled labor, if my understanding of macro economics is correct we should expect high tech products becoming availible that originated from india. With india's vast supply of labor, and land the high tech products that the country can supply will be VERY competitive much like japan after WWII transistor radios and cars, and china's little plastic toys. I can see maybe not 5years but more like 10 india being a world economic leader (this will of course depend on governmental stability, investment capital availibility ect...)

dear infinitelo,
thanx for correct insight.
Do you have any words of advise for people like me who are having 2 + years experience in IT development ?

Because now it has become extremely difficult to have a proper job with proper salary. We already shifted our main fields (I am from Instrumentation back ground - BS) so no way of going there back after 3-4 years of experience in totally different field. Rushi Shroff Rushi@emqube.com

Now for the hard part. If your intention is to be a follower(ie work for someone else) Your options will be limited for some time.
The key to success here will to be a leader, have you considerd starting your own company. Take inventory of your skills and perhaps skills of people you know. With a background in Instrumentation you may have a product in mind already. Keep in mind that what I am suggesting is not a gaurentee of success 80% of new businesss fail in the first two years (most commonly due to lack of capital).
The current IT slump is not due to a lack of demand for information technology products. It is due to large investment in companies that never turned a profit. Look at the companies that are still around can you compete with any of them.
Examples: ford didnt invent the car he just made them cheaper and faster, carnegie provided steel when railroads were criss crossing the country, gates was able to set a standard interface between hardware and users, ray kroc (founder mcdonalds) recognized that cusomers expect speed, quality and a standard product.
