hi all,

I graduated from University (Bsc in comp sci) about 2 years ago. I have been doing a bit of traveling since then, but gathered no experience in the IT industry. Now I'm home and want to start out working in the .NET framework.

Reason for this is that my final year project was an auction site written in asp.net/c#. I implemented web services and also used the ADO.net way to communicate with the database.

Now to the questions. Is it worth my while trying to get into this field or should I just go for whatever comes my way? (prob something using C++ would be my next choice). Is .NET the "revolutionary" framework that is was made out to be? Or is it just java without the portability? (I just read this on another forum)

Well any help would be appreciated with kick-starting my career.
kevin.

I say, if you like web-progamming, ASP.NET is where it's at. If you plan to do MS/Windows development at all, .NET is a must. If you have to change to Java, what you learn in C# will transfer easily.

However, you might want to try forum654 - you might get some less biased opinons ;)

Greetings,
Dragonwell
