isuserinrole probelm with more than 2 roles

Hi,
I have at the moment 3 different roles (User Levels) that a member can be assigned - Level (highest), Level2 & Level3.

On my download section I have my downloads divided up into different categories and each category can have different Access Levels - Level, Level2 & Level3.

I want a member with access level 2 to be able to access categories that have Access Level 3 & 2,
member with Access Level 3 only to access categories that have Access Level3 etc.

The problem is how do I see that a members access level is greater than or equal to access level set on category??

you should have the users access level in a session variable somewhere.
