Hi, does anyone have a tricky little secret way of allowing users to only read and edit issues they created themselves or issues they have assigned to them?

Or even if there is a way 1 group of users can read and edit only their own issues list items and another group be able to read and edit all.

Basically I want to use it so staff can send through jobs to the IT Dept who would action them but I dont want users apart from the IT Dept to be able to see other users issues as some may be confidential.

Any thoughts or 3rd party webparts?

I did something similar where I need only certain people to view certain items and what you could try to do is work with views.

Example

Make the default view where it is filtered by their Created By =[Me]
And remove all other views

Staff
--Only give permission to Add, View, Edit.

IT
--Give permission to Add, View, Edit, and manage views
--have them create a PERSONAL view where they can see all items.

In the end Staff will only have the view to view their own items but IT will have the personal view see all items.

When frustrated remember, in the computer world there is almost always a backdoor.

Thanks, that should work. It would just be nice to actually make it secure so noone could get to stuff they shouldnt by setting an alert on the list or something. Shouldnt be a problem but its nice to know that it cant be.

Thanks for your help.
