We have networked two Nortel BCM 400 3.7 telephone system together. The primary system has two PRI's for outbound and inbound calling. We have added 16 VoIP Trunks to each system and configured them. We setup the call routing for both internal and external dialing. Everything works except for one item. The second BCM does not properly release the VoIP trunks (our terms). When you first dial out from the second system to the first (or external) you see the second system grab Line 016 and then the first system answers the call on Line 001. When the call completes Line 016 stays active for a bit longer than it seems it should. When you then try to make a second call it picks up Line 016 but the line is basically dead. You can dial but it does not ever pickup a matching Line 00X on the primary BCM. If you hang up and try to dial again the second BCM will this time pickup Line 015 and the call will complete. This pattern continues until you have utilized all 16 of the trunks and then no more calls can be made. However if from the Primary BCM you dial out to the second BCM it grabs Line 001 (Primary) and rings on Line 016. The call completes and when you make a second call the Primary BCM is able to pickup Line 001 again and connect to Line 016 (Secondary) without issue. Any thoughts would be helpful? We did enable the 3/5 split on the 2nd BCM so that we can increase the number of IP phones that they can add to it.
