hi there,

i have got sort of an issue here. i have installed my D-Link switch and connected its 10/100 ports to patch panels and now i am having problems linking my switches together.
the switches are in different racks and the racks are linked together by back- bone fiber optic cable. the fiber optic cable has been tested and their is no break but when i connect the fiber to the 1000baseT port on the switch, it doesnt light up on that port indicating that the switches are not sending signals to each other via the back-bone fiber.
what could be the problem i am confused.

thanks ,
regards

Have you checked that the fibre cables are totally clean. If they are not you may not get a good connection. Is there any sort of configuration that needs to be done to the ports first? Check the manual.
