Ok me and my coworker are trying to assign are NICS's in server 2012 for hyperv.
We have four nics in the box, 1st for management, 2 and 3 for the vm trunks and the 4th for storage.
Now, we have had an ip address on the management nic but would like to change it to a new address but the server then assign the dreaded 169.254.x.x address.
Does anyone have an idea on why we can keep the old address, but not change the last octet to a new one?
Thanks in advance.
Also, the IP address is being statically assigned.
