Hi Guys,

Sometimes whem I send/receive an email with an attached file, the attached file extention changes to .dat or to only a . (dot). I'm using Exchange 5.5
Any ideas?

Thanks

Hi Brontosaurus,

Both internal og external

Hmm...typically this is due to a mismatch in file/mime types. Does it happen with any kind of attachment, or just docs/spreadsheets..? If you send a picture (bmp, jpg, gif...) does that get affected as well? What exchange service pack are you up to?

Just for docs spreadsheets. Pictures are not affected. I running SP6a on the server.

Thanks for you help

for external messages, make sure the MIME type on your IMS is set to plain text. This wouldn't help with internal mail, but if all your systems are using the same Office package, you shouldn't be experiencing this problem from internal user to internal user. If it's still a problem, in Outlook you can change the default Mail Format (via Tools, Options, Mail Formats) to plain text for all messages.
