I will start off by explaining what I have done.. (I am in the process of migrating from an old 2k server to a new 2k3 server

Fresh install of sbs 2003 R2 (only first cd as of right now)
Installed DNS (no setup)

ran forestprep and domainprep on the 2k server (with no errors)

ran dcpromo on the 2k3 server to set up the new server as an additional DC temporarily so i don't need to bring the old server down at all during the process..

Now the issue I am having is I can access all the other pc's and shares and the old DC's shares from the new server however when i try to access the new server from any pc on the network at all I get that the network resource cannot be contacted..

Any ideas of maybe a step i missed so far? or something that may not have gone correctly?

We run all of our production software off of the 2k server so I would like to test them piece by piece before I take the operational (old) server off of production status...

windows firewall on the 2k3?

start with the simple things first.

Can you ping the IP?
Can you ping the computer name?
Can you browse to \\servername
can you browse to \\servername\C$ when logged in to the PC as an admin?
Have you set up the shares and permissions correctly?
