Option 11, no voice mail.
Slots 1 and 2 are PRI circuits.
Slot 3 empty.
Slots 4 - 10 are digital or analog cards.

when inserting an analog card into Slot 3, I can translate a 500 line and make the physical connections to the jack and show battery and ringing at the jack when the DN is dialed.
The equipment ( usually a fax) will answer the call, but no talk path is executed.
If you go off hook at the terminal end you get no dial tone, consequently you can not make outbound calls.
Swapped card (which tested good in another slot) with known good analog card, same results.
Any ideas as to why this would be occurring ?
I have found no conflicts in the switch with this slot.

Have you tried other ports on that card? it could be a bad port.

This is a Signature and not part of the answer, it appears on every reply.

This is an Analogy so don't take it personally as some have.

Why change the engine if all you need is to change the spark plugs.

I had a problem like that one time and it seemed like I had used all my license for analog sets up.

If you had used all the Lic, you wouldn't be able to even program it.

Yes, blanket copied all ports. The problem doesn't follow the card when flipping cards. I am starting to suspect the backplane having an issue. This one is just weird.

Isn't kind of suspicious that card slot 3 is empty, while 4-10 are filled?

First of all, check that you have no TN'S in slot 3 used for DTR or XTD etc. In fact, remove any TN that is programmed in "3" for the moment to leave an unequipped card slot.

Next, key in LD 10,11 or 20 these two commands..

REQ: out
TYPE cardmlt (for analogue)
TN 3

or try ...
REQ: out
TYPE cardslt (for digital)
TN 3

This is an old SL1 command that Nortel brought in to remove card slot data.

Finally print out your D Channels to make sure that you don't have any programmed in that slot, such as a PRI or SDI card.

Otherwise email me a copy of your database & I'll take a look.

If it's working, then leave it alone!.

just to correct fbs...

REQ: OUT
TYPE: CARDMLT ( DIGITAL )
TN: 3

REQ: OUT
TYPE: CARDSLT ( 500 )
TN: 3

Thanks guys, I will try the software routine and see if that clears the issue.

There are no bent pins on the backplane.

The reason slot three was left open is this switch is used for an executive suite (This is part of our Shared Tennant Division) and we like to leave a slot open to add additional PRI if the load requires. The only reason I was trying to use the empty slot was I ran out of available ports.
In the executive suite business that situation corrects it self usually at the end of the month. Trying to avoid addin another cabinet.

My guess is that the cable pairs are incorrect either in the amphenol or at the frame. If all TNs for the card are affected then it may be that you are getting battery from the tip side of one TN and the ring side of a different TN.
The easy way to check, if you can, is to move the amphenol from slot 4 over to the backplane connection for slot 3.

Agreed, I would make a test 25-pair Amp cable that has a few jacks and remove the tail from the Option 11C. You can then test to see if you have a bad switch tail. Not sure if you can see the entire switch tail run between the 11C and the cross connect field, but if you can you may want to visually inspect it to see if you have any issues.
