I am having an issue setting special security permissions for a folder and its subfolders and files on a shared network drive. I set permissions to allow users in the "Everyone" group to update files, but setting the permissions of delete and delete files to "deny", and removing the "inherit permissions checkbox". I chose to have these permissions apply to subfiles and folders but after this was set, the users received an error message saying the the file was encripted or read-only and they could not even open the file. When I looked at the security permissions on the specific file, the "Everyone" group was not listed, which I'm guessing is why they got the error. What I don't understand is WHY, WHEN I CHOSE TO APPLY THE PERMISSIONS ON THE PARENT FOLDER AND I CHOSE MULTIPLE TIMES TO HAVE IT APPLY TO THE SUBFOLDERS AND FILES, THE PERMISSIONS DID NOT COPY DOWN ON THE FILES IN THE SUBFOLDERS. I had to manually set up the permissions on each file in the subfolder? Anyone have any ideas or suggestions, so users can update the files, but not delete, we have already had that incident happen. Thanks.
