Can I run a webserver without my provider to know it? Or how can I decrease the risk of they knowin it?
I am planning to run a webserver on w2k server. I am dynamically connected to a network from my ISP. I have 10 mbit connection which reaches a switch of mine. In the switch I separate the connection to 3 computers. One of the computers is this server which run IIS as a webserver. Until know you could connect to the Internet with no username and password. Now you have to activate the connection on ONE computer. They say that you have to do it so they can KNOW who's online. I am allowed to have three connections but not a webserver. I am going to use as Dynamic DNS service provider. No default website, just virtual by "HEADERS". So if I enter the IP nothing no site is found but when I use my .com adress the headers are sent and the site shows up.
Last time I called to the support, I gave them my IP, which they'll have in the future. By having that they could get my computername. How can I prevent them from founding my webadresses or how can I "fool" them in some way? I don't want to do this, if the could sell me a static IP I would buy it but the don't.
Thankful for any answers!
