Please bare with me if this is a silly question but..

One of our ISP in another city gave us 5 static IP addresses (with it's respective Gateway, dns, etc.) as a part of the contract, but we are actually using only two of them.

The local ISP -which is another company and another city - charges $60 bucks/month for the same number of IPs and we need 2 static IP ASAP.

Is there any way to use the ones that I'm not using, so I dont have to pay for that ripoff? If so, how?

Please help.

The only way is to have a link between your two sites that is private.. T1 etc.. the problem is the IP addresses belongs to a block that the ISP owns.. and you go through THEIR gateway to get in and out of the network. Unless they have a gateway there in the 2nd city, it's a no go..

You might be able to get away with have a DSL connection to the 2nd site.. and then VPN back to your first site.

But honestly, 60 bucks for 5 statics is pretty darn cheap. I pay more then that for 1 static and 5 private "dynamic" IPs.. not that I have much choice where I am :-(

Well, you make me feel a lot better now. Not only for you clear explanation but also for the pricing issue.

Thanks a lot. I really appreciate your help.
