I have a column in Excel containing approximately 12,000 records.

However, I only wish to isolate those cells which are shaded in a particular colour. The rest can be deleted.

How do I do this ? Tried 'Find cells that match a format' but no joy.

Thanks all

Hi,

Short answer, you cannot, with native Excel spreadsheet features.

It can be done with VBA code. Please post in Forum707 to pursue this option, if you wish.

Evansey,

I think you need to look a little closer to home for the answer to this one, you could be going round the houses when the answer may be on your doorstep. Why are the cells shaded, conditional formatting perhaps? If so, do a Simple if statement using you conditional formating criteria.

My philosopy and approach to this problem comes from a book I swear by "10000001 ways to problem solve with XL" by Stephen Barnes MDCVS. Try it out !!

Many Thanks to you besto1a that has worked

besto1a,

Do you have a link for the book you mentioned? Or was that a joke - the book? [blush]
