I have a small job to pull 6 cat5's at a plant that makes parts for cars. I have been ask if i am ISO/TS16949 compliant.
I have read Some of TS16949 it deals with material used in or making of parts. I'm lost, any help?

Hi, this question comes up because they may have a requirement that all vendors are compliant to the standards of their "quality system". Just for reference (and you may already know this): ISO/TS16949 is a widely recognized quality standard used in the Automotive Industry. The standard is an interpretation of ISO9001 for the Automotive industry and contains requirements such as Quality Control Planning, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis, Statistical Quality Control, Measure System Analysis.
Your first question should be, "Can I get the contract for the work if I'm not compliant?". If the answer is no, go on to the next job. If you have to ask yourself if you're compliant, you're not! The documentation alone isn't worth the time it will take for one small job. In any "quality system", you need documented proof of compliance with every feature that applies, from the manufacturer's components you use, installation procedures, your billing practices, what you do when things go wrong, etc. It is a very involved process, not to be entered into lightly, but very important to the automobile manufacturing (and related) industry. Hope this helps, ----Will
