ISO: help with adding tabs

For whatever reason, when I go to Format text -> Tabs it doesn't let me add any tabs to my document. All of the buttons are in that transparent gray color, so I can't even click on the + or edit the "add tabs every..."

Any help is greatly appreciated.

You can only create tabs in a "paragraph text" object. If your object is "artistic text" (it will say that on the status line) you will need to convert it with Text : Convert to Paragraph Text before you can apply tabs.
