I have determined that the iSeries ODBC Connector will not operate properly as a file-base (.dsn) connector, but rather needs to be machine-based. Does anyone know if there is a fix or a workaround to this limitation?

Hi Randy,
You say "iSeries ODBC Connector will not operate properly as a file-base (.dsn) connector".
I have just created a file dsn and used it with SQL Server Data Transformation Services and it works fine. What's your problem?

When I have created a .dsn file for an iSeries Connector, the connection is very unstable. I needed to use the file to connect an Access db with the AS/400. I can typically connect, but usually within 5 or 10 seconds of linking to one of the iSeries tables, Access unexpectedly quits. Upon researching this on IBM's site, they have admitted to an instability with their connector and recommend using a machine-based and not a file-based connector.

It would be very useful to be able to use a .dsn file, but I can't seem to keep it stable. Since you are having success using it with a SQL Server, the instability could be unique to Access databases.
