will some confirm that the Iseries runs DB2 uder OS 5.1
I have colleages that are saying that OS 5.1 has it own DB and it not DB2 or UDB.

Thanks for any light that you might shine.

I think it is this way, the AS/400 (or IBM iSeries eServer) is it's own data base, but it conforms to the DB2 standards. Why does it make a difference? Mike Wills

The IBM iSeries (AS/400) has always had an integral Database as part of its operating system. Originally the database was not named but for marketing reasons IBM eventually decided to call it DB2/400 and later changed the name to UDB (Universal DataBase). So the answer to your query is that yes DB2 (or UDB if you prefer to call it that) is indeed part of OS 5.1

Okay...so I didn't want to stick out my neck and say it was DB2. :) I wasn't 100% sure. Mike Wills
