We recently connected a BRI trunk from BT in London to a 3300 CXi running latest load.

We are not seeing Caller ID when receiving calls. Is there some kind of trick that we need to program on the 3300 in order to receive it and display Caller ID. Please note from CCS traces that it seems that BT is not sending Callimg line ID information.

Also, we are receiving last 6 digits of the complete number, is this normal with BT in London? (From CCS Trace 415728)

This is our first PBX Installation in London, that's why asking these too many questions.

Any help/comment will be appretiated, Regards,
Daniel

CCS TRACE AS FOLLOWS:

You may need to ask BT to send you the caller ID (they don't always do this)

You need them to turn on:
Calling Line Identification Presentation (CLIP)

Thanks Fissure, I will give them a call on monday and ask them to turn the CLIP on.

By the way, is it normal in the UK, at least BT trunks, to send the last six digits of the number?

We were given 020 8741 5728, however they are only sending 415728. Is this normal?

Regards and thanks again,

Daniel

Hi Daniel,

BT sending you last 6 digits (of your number) is normal, but you can ask them to change it, I think they refer to it as 'digits to switch'.

Also, when they send you the CLI (caller's number) it will likely be missing the leading 0

something like this should help:

System Configuration, Trunks, Digital Trunks, ISDN-BRI, Inward Dialing Configuration
Click: Change
For: Calling Party Number Prefix Insertion
International: 0
National: 0
Subscriber: 0
Unknown: 0

Fissure, thanks very much for your tips.

I can live with BT sending the last 6 digits, it just looked odd to me. I had seen COs sending out 4, 3 or the complete number. It may be that I'm not familiar with the numbering scheme in the UK. I will leave it as it is... You know how it is asking the provider to change something.

What I'm doing is absorbing 2 digts and then translate the last 4 digits with System Speed call entries.

Thanks for the Calling Party Number Prefix Insertion TIP.

I'll let you know how it goes with BT and the CLIP.

Regards,

Daniel

Looks like from your trace that you are not getting CLI so as fissure sasy call BT and get them to switch this on. If you aare not the bill payer though you will have to get them to do this as there is a small charge per month I believe.
Once CLI appears in CCS trace make sure you have the corrct COS options enabled for the trunks and sets and you should be ok.

Thanks Bobcheese.

I'll ask the bill payer to call BT and ask to turn that option on. Thanks very much, Regards,

Daniel
