Setting up ISDN w/Qsig(Avaya G3rV12) to ShoreTel. Talks fine. ShoreTel receiving number but not name. Only doc I could find was Qsig to NORTEL, so I set up that format(all system cust options correct). ShoreTel tech says he gets number from 'D' channel, but name should be over Qsig. List trace shows number and name over 'D' channel.

Calling Name and Connected Name are QSIG supplementary services. Is it possible that Shoretel just didn't implement all of these services? I know I've seen a list of the Shoretel QSIG features, but I don't know where it is.

Okay, I just looked it up on Shoretel's site. It appears that they have only implemented QSIG Basic Call features, not the supplementary services. I'm downloading the ECMA QSIG-BC standard to see what features it includes.

Okay, sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but it looks like QSIG-BC just includes Calling Number, Called Number, and Connected Number information. It does not have name-related features. It looks like you won't be able to get name-related information over QSIG unless Shortel gets with the program and develops a better implementation of QSIG in their software.

Do you really need QSIG? What features do you need that can't be done over ISDN without QSIG?

Cust looking for calling number (outside calls full digit string)(inside calls,Definity station number) and name if available from outside and extension name inside. Location is hospital with multible sites. Using ShoreTel to replace several small EKTS systems with IP.

I don't think you need QSIG for that. Are you going to need to light MWI across the link?

Cust using VM on Shoretel for those users, so no MWI(thankfully). Just wants display for calling number and name.

It looks like you might do better with just a plain ISDN integration. If you don't need the QSIG features, don't bother, especially since Shoretel hasn't bothered to actual implement QSIG in a way that would be useful yet.

We have two QSIG trunks between Nortel and ShoreTel, we get name and number each way.
