I am installing a new pri on my switch, I have done this before through SBC/Ameritech switches (nortel DMS, Lucent 5E) but the central office I am coming out of is on a semons switch. Do you know if the Semons switch emulates the DMS or the 5E ?

ONLY the Following Switch types are supported:
4ESS DEX600E (is this a Siemens???)
5ESS Legend Ntwk
DMS-250 Legend PBX
DMS-100

I believe the DEX is an Alcatel switch, but I've not actually worked with one.

Most switches can emulate a 5ESS or a DMS-100. Although this will almost always involve a lot of talk with the switch room folks at cut time, it can be done. Call the switch room folks, and seed if they have had a (successful) configuration for your switch.

thanks all for the help. my my merlin legend R7

Pepperz, I talked to the translation peoplel at SBC and they told me that the semens switch wil only be able to emulate the5E, If I would have had just had a BRI installed instead of a PRI, i would not be worried. but the merlins are very picky, right merlinman? I will let you know how it turns out, cut date is october 31st.

Yes, they are picky.

Not only do they require one of the types of Central Offices I told you about, THEY DON'T DO NATIONAL PRI, only CUSTOM, based on the type of CO.

The Legend is somewhat flexible in what it can receive and "massage" digits, but not as flexible as other sysems, or so I've been told.
