Have a customer who moved their ISDN from Orange to Vodafone. On the old circuit the DDIs assigned to users would display on outgoing calls as you would expect. On the new circuit no matter what we set as outgoing CLI, either letting the ICR dictate it or manually entering an snumber to the shortcode the main number is displayed.

We have checked on monitor the digits being received and have checked on monitor that when we send out the correct number and amount of digits is in the ISDN trace, so we told the customer to tell their provider to sort it.

The provider came back saying we have the system setup wrong and need to setup M=N=9

I have told the customer to tell the provider that is not something we have ever heard of (10 years on IPO here) and that we can see we are sending correctly and it was fine on the previous provider, but I was wondering if this is something anyone has ever heard of.

Cheers

The issue is with Vodafone or whoever is providing the ISDN circuit for them. It needs to be set to pass information on that is sent from the IPO but it's set to send the main bearer number. The problem with VF is getting hold of someone that knows what they're on about and knows how to deal with it. Good luck with that

And this is why you do things yourself and dont rely on others, even though I had told our support desk to check the digits being received, they obviously didnt because when I checked we were receiving the number minus the leading 0, but we were sending the number with the leading 0. Removed the 0 from the outgoing setup and bingo bango bongo correct number being displayed.

One really stupid question (as I know you know this already)
are you using the 'i' character to signify the CLI is being presented in international format?

if so then this is a provider issue.

Nope no i - it was just them not wanting the leading 0.

And they could say that instead of M=N=9 ? =)

I would still try it with the 'i', that s what the ETSI Standard expects.
