When dialing up to a a Cisco BRI port (with the IP helper address configured) I get an error stating that a compatible set of protocols could not be negotiated. Dial-up is fine if I configure a static IP for the client, but I was expecting DHCP to work. I have configured a DHCP scope in the same way as usual, and this works for modem dial-up, but for ISDN I am having to resort to static addresses. Can anyone tell me what I've missed?

Reinstall TCP/IP for the ISDN connection. IF your isdn modem uses dial up networking, go to properties of the isdn connection (my computer>dial up networking>rt click the connection) and clickon the SERVER TYPES tab. Make sure that the only two things selected are enable software compression, and TCP/IP. then click TCP/IP SETTINGS and make sure they are all SERVER ASSIGNED.
This error message is a pain in the but to fix if this does not take care of it. It basically includes reinstalling communications, etc. I'd call the ISP when you have a few free minutes to figure it out
