Just wondering if anyone can help this out.

Normally, we can configure ISDN as follows:

interface BRI0
......
isdn spid1 31222577050101
isdn spid2 31222577060101
......

But how come it is still okay if I am doing this way?

interface BRI0
......
dialer map ip 192.168.0.1 name cisco broadcast 5187889
......

What kind of situation I have to use isdn spidxxx?

Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Allan

You need to specify isdn spid when configuring your isdn connection to your telco company. Those spid #'s are identifers for your telco(Sort of like phone number). Do you have a dial-up or 24/7 connection. If you want post your running-config and i could tell you more, later
