Every 2 hours my internet connection is terminated. It is with the BT anytime service and a digital line. Is there anything that I can do about this?

What you need to find is a software program that periodically pings an address which will act as a "keepalive" for the bonded dialup connection, ISP's drop inactive connections. There are some "freeware" programs for this, and some that are over the counter.

Thanx. I'll have a look for one of those programs. if anyone knows of any please let me know.

Hi, Norton Systemworks contains a connection keepalive utility but it states when you activiate it that your ISP might not support keepalive although it's worth a try.....m110d

I've now tried a variety of these programs but none of them seem to work. It always disconnects periodically after 2hrs wether i'm using it or not. Have you got any new information? Thanx.

Have you checked with your ISP? It may be that your ISP has a 2 hour session time for your connection profile. This is different than an idle timeout. It may very well be that they limit all users to 2 hours at a time to make sure you don't stay connected all the time and tying up resources.

You were right MaxPipeline. Freeserve does have this policy -does anyone know of a method to get around this, e.g. somehow making the ISP think that the sesion is only a few minutes old?
