What is the difference between pointing a DDI target to a Ring Group or Department Group? I like having Dept Groups setup with pilot numbers to allow a single number to be rung to ring phones in one area, and had pointed DDIs to the Dept Groups too, but am now thinking it should be to an Extension Group instead really?

Sorry, SL1100. I use a pilot number for the dept group, and had pointed the DDI to the pilot number, not the ring group.

The problem with department groups is that if a member is call forwarded to their voicemail it bypasses them in the group. You are better off using ring groups, or virtual extensions assigned to buttons on all of the phones that need to answer the calls. Set them to ring, or delay ring to back up answering positions.

Thanks. I think I will use ring groups and direct the DDIs to the ring groups.
