I have got a Cisco 3640 router connected to an ISDN PRI line. When anyone tries to authenticate via this router, I get an engaged tone on the line. Provider has checked the line and, suprise, suprise, no fault found.

Is it worth running a debug on the router to see if everything is OK with it, and if so, what commands ?

Cheers.

Are you saying any call INTO the router gets an engaged (busy) tone? Or calls from the get an engaged tone?

If it is the former, can you dial out. If you can, then the mostly likely reason would be a DN (Directory number aslo known as DID number) matching problem.

You need to confirm that the Cisco is programmed for the same number of digits as the Telco is sending.

Worst case, figure out how to do an ISDN log from the PRI and post it here along with what number was dialed. That should allow us to determine how many digits were dialed and therefore how many you need to enter into the CIsco.

Good luck.

Any luck?

If you figured it out its nice to share the solution.

Best of luck
