I need a basic config for a permanat ISDN Bri connection on a 1603 can anyone help????

interface BRI0
no ip address
no ip proxy-arp
encapsulation ppp
dialer pool-member XX
isdn switch-type xxxxxxx
ppp authentication pap callin

interface Dialer1
description xxxxxx Dialer
ip address xxxxxx
no ip proxy-arp
encapsulation ppp
no ip split-horizon
dialer idle-timeout xxxx either
dialer remote-name xxxxx
dialer pool xxx
dialer string xxxxxxxxxxx
dialer-group XX
ppp quality 50
ppp authentication pap callin
ppp pap sent-username xxxx password xxxxx

Set the idle-timeout to highest number allowed, but doesn't this defeat the whole objective of having ISDN

Hope that helps :)

Depend on what is the objective.

if the idle-time out is too short, it will not convenient to some cases.
I used ISDN as backup , and I want it stay up until primary is back again.
in this case I put very high idle-time out. so it is not get disconnected until primary become alive again.

Sorry to explain Further this is needed for a 24/7 connection

Did you read the link? Dialer persisten, as I read it, nails the circuit up 24/7 without messing around with idle timers, ping scripts, etc.
