Ok folks, I'm lost. This is my first time trying to setup a SAN.

I have an IBMDS3300 iSCSI SAN.
My server has 2 iSCSI HBAs and 2 nic cards.

On the back of my SAN I have two controllers side A and Side B
Side A has:
1 management port (ethernet)
2 iSCSI ports

Side B has the same

I configured side A as follows:
management port 10.10.1.204
iSCSI 1 - 10.10.1.200
iSCSI 2 - 10.10.1.201

SIDE B:
management port 10.10.1.205
iSCSI 1 - 10.10.1.202
iSCSI 2 - 10.10.1.203

my server has the two iSCSI HBA's connected directly to the management port(s) .204 and .205

the IP's I configured to the two HBA's on my server are 10.10.1.206 and .207.

When I try to discover both controllers A and B I can only connect to one side at at time. I cannot communicate to both sides at the same time...I'm lost.

Also I am not sure once I do get the SAN up all the way and LUNS created how I assign them to the server (windows 2003).

Any help would be appreciated bigtime!!

first question : Why do you connect your iscsi card to your management port ?????
So, best way to set this up :

hook up the management ports of the 2 controllers to a switch on the network (most companies use separate vlans or IP ranges for management of devices ). Hook up an ethernet interface of your server to this network as well. Now you wil be able to manage your box in a proper manner.
Next the iscsi.Best would be to place a (2) switch between server and controllers, this way you can use multipath software which allows higher redundancy.
I'll try explain how you should hook it all up :
we have on server : SRV_iscsi1,SRV_iscsi2
switch1 and switch2
and on the controllerA : DS_iscsi1,DS_iscsi2
and on the controllerB : DS_iscsi3,DS_iscsi3

cable SRV_iscsi1 to switch1 and SRV_iscsi2 to switch2
cable DS_iscsi1 to switch1 and DS_iscsi2 to switch2
cable DS_iscsi3 to switch1 and DS_iscsi4 to switch2

This will allow you to have multiple paths to each lun presented on each controller.

best rgds,

R.
