IS-IT--Management

1. I configured ISA to use at home, as an experimental environment. With a 56K modem. ISA is connected to the internet with an external IP (modem) "randomly" given by my ISP each time I log in and an internal IP (fixed) with a network adapter which connects it to the other PC's at home.
Problem: I can connect to the Internet with ALL the PC's EXCEPT the one which has the ISA server installed. On that one I cannot access any web page (DNS error or server not found) and when I PING an external address sometimes it's ok, sometimes it gives me 4 "timeouts". (randomly)

2. I think this is a no-brainer (really stupid) but it really puzzles me so if you're kind enough to provide any help: ISA management -> Policy elements -> Dial-Up entries: I create one... Why can't I delete it!? (why has ISA to be such a frustrating piece of software... :( )

Hi, I have about the same setup at my home.
1. Check your browser settings on the server (IE 6.x).
a. Under Tools|Int Options|Connections Tab|make sure your dial-up is set as the default. Remove old entries.
b. Under same Connections Tab|dial-up settings|uncheck auto detect and uncheck use config script. check use proxy and put in your isa server internal nic ip address 10.x.x.x and port as 8080. Uncheck bypass proxy. Click on advanced..button and check use same proxy for all protos.
c. Under Connections Tab|lan settings|do the same as in b. I have checked the bypass proxy for lan settings, your choice.

2. Double check your LAT settings to ensure all clients and server IP addresses are included.

3. Double check your dial-up entry settings and account id and passwords are configured correctly.

Hope this helps.

Hi,

I'm having the same problem.

It worked fine with my previous dial-up. Then I changed to ADSL with a static IP adress. Now I can not access the internet on the server. Works fine on the client machine.
I can also ping external adresses.

I have not changed my internet settings. Why would nit now stop working?

Aaaarrrrrrrr!
