ISA PNP sound card un SuSE Linux 8.0?
Hello:
What is the procedure for installing the following sound card in an x86 system with a Linux version. The sound card is identified by chip which is inscribed as Crystal; CS4237B-KQ . The Linux version is SuSE 8.0 . KDE and Gnome environments are present. Yast2 assists installation and configuring, usually. This time, though, it responded, ‘Error occurred while trying to install Crystal Semiconductor Sound card cs4237. IO addr or IRQ may be in error.' Attempt to run alsaconf causes system to freeze after only 3rd card id probed for. After following steps involving isapnpdmp and isapnp.conf, there was still no change. Addresses and irq values were consistant with what is reported for resources used by working example of same card model under Win98 on same model machine.
