ISA 2004 server cannot connect to Internal Windows update service. Created access rule according to many internet postings and have had no luck. Is anyone else having issues with this and does anyone know how to fix it.

I made a rule to say that all protocols are allowed from local host to the wsus server, after that all worked (I don't remeber if I have also removed the checkbox about the 'Enforce strict RPC compliance' from the system rule 'Allow RPC from ISA Server to trusted servers' for this or for other, obviously you can try to create a more selective rule, after it works this way.
To check the client you can download from here the WSUS 'client diagnostics tool'
