Hi,

We are working on a project that uses cisco 3750 series switches. We are planning to configure "Resilient Ethernet Protocol", which works only on Metro switches.

I need to know whether my switch is Metro (MAN) or not. I did not find the answer in cisco website.
The Model number is: WS-C3750G-12S-E
The version ID is: V04

Any help?

No you have a 'regular' 3750. Even though the documentation seems to indicate there are several Metro 3750's, there is only one - the ME-C3750-24TE-M. This has 24 10/100 Ethernet ports plus two SFP ports, all of which operate and are configured like a regular 3750. There are additionally two more SFP ports that only operate at 1Gbps and are referred to as the 'ES' ports that support enhanced egress queueing (egress policy-maps) & MPLS.

Thx Andy for your kind reply.

OK. That answers my question.

However, is there a way to use a "Metro IOS" on our "regular" switch so that REP (Resilient Ethernet Protocol) can be run? a sort of software migration instead of changing the material.
Else, is there an equivalent to REP in the regular 3750 switch?

Thx once again.

No, I asked our Cisco SE a question the other week and the ES ports are the big difference between the regular and Metro version of the 3750, you can't just load the Metro IOS onto a non-Metro 3750. REP is only supported on ME3400 & 3750 Metro switches. There is 'talk' of REP being in the non-Metro 3750's next year but there are no timescales or even if it will make it....
