Is WebSphere capable of doing this...

I need to create a tracking a tracing system on my company's web site that pulls specific records from a database on the AS/400. (i.e. customer types a reference # to check the status of their order which then pulls matching records to that specific reference number)

My initial idea was to pull the database records into an MS Access database using ODBC and use ASP-ADO to manipulate the database. But I run into a few road blocks.

Then I noticed we purchased WebSphere when we purchased our AS/400. So my questions is, would it be easier and more efficient to use WebSphere to create the tracking and tracing system instead of ASP-ADO? Also, is it even possible to do this using WebSphere? Some people have mentioned RPG, but I am not familiar with it (I guess I can learn).

I am new to this AS/400 and WebShere platform and would like to take advantage of it if possible. Any assistance and suggestions will be most appreciated.

We are running V5R1. Also, our web site is hosted by an ISP. Does that limit my capabilities by not running a web server?

Also, thanks to Koldark for the assistance and reference to IGNITe in my previous post.

Is the AS/400 running DB2 as the database? If so then you could use DB2 Connect to access the DB2 data in the AS/400 from your J2EE Application sitting in WebSphere. This would be fairly easy. Of course the involved part is going to be writing the J2EE Application on WebSphere if you don't have any Java and J2EE experience.
