is visual basic very hot in market or what r the status of visual basic in the market today?

Well lets just compare what we can see, currently this forum has over 2000 memebers for visual basic, also If it's not visual basic it's usally one of the other Microsoft languages, Some of the major features comming soon are for VB7, my job requires it, as so many other job, and I am just on Web Development. So Yes I would think it's hot in the market, at least when used with another language as well. Got to agree with Karl there (something of a first I know) [sig]<p>Mike<br><a href=mailto:michael.j.lacey@ntlworld.com>michael.j.lacey@ntlworld.com</a><br><a href= Cargill's Corporate Web Site</a><br>Making mistakes, so you don't have to. &lt;grin&gt;[/sig]

Um...

Visual basic to developers is as a screwdriver is to a carpenter. :)

Oh! VC++ is a hammer ;-)

I for one, much prefer screws to nails. [sig]<p>Wil Mead<br><a href=mailto:wmead@optonline.net>wmead@optonline.net</a><br><a href= > </a><br> [/sig]

If it helps much, here are a few languages I see as major market potentials/tools.

VB
VC++ (or standard[STL] C++)
ASP (Active Server Pages) or CGI

Also some of these might be worth knowing(some of which might not take long at all to learn)

VBscript/Javascript/HTML
Java
Perl

there are a couple others I Can think of, also most companies would like to see that you know least 2 seperate languages, typically a VB and C++ background go together rather well, (since some programmers will write complex dlls in C++, then use them in VB as a backend)
