Hey guys;
Was wondering; can one consider validation or a verification process as a use case?
On what bases do you come to choose a use case...?
let us say; a user verifies his user name... is this a use case?

Thank you

a use case is simply a context in which the system behaves. validation and/or verification are two separate concepts. a use case may involved validation or verification or both, but it isn't the use case. At least I wouldn't consider it the use case.

not to mention validation and verification are specific to the context in which the object(s) are processed. for example: the validation to submit an order might be different than the validation to fulfill an order.
or
creating a new customer may have a different set of validation rules than updating the customer's residence, which is different than updating the customer's material status.

typically validation and verification are considered cross cutting concerns, much like data access and logging. they are required for a context, but they are not the context itself.
