Is Upgrading R6 to R9 one step or do I need to stop in and say hi to another release on the way up?

I have a site going from R6.0 to R9 Only running Preferred, nothing else.

I am guessing they get a virtual Essential but I wasn't sure if I had to interim upgrade to something in between 6 & 9, like perhaps 8.0 in order to avoid issues or the essential license not being created.

Thanks

I would get a real essential edition license.
I have been bitten once where i needed to replace an IP500v2 with a virtual essential edition license and that is tight to the chassis.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

If you have IPOSS, and the unit with virtual essential edition fails, Avaya will issue a new virtual licence.
