I have recently installed a Wireless Belkin Network Card in my desktop PC (Packard Bell Imedia 5109) and since doing so have experienced a number of problems as follows :

1. XP operating system shuts down ok (you hear the sound of this happening) but it holds on to the power and stays running on a blue screen.

2. The CMOS battery has suddenly ran low and BIOS settings cannot be saved.

3. The CD re-writer drive is no longer detected by the motherboard. Its listed in device manager fine, until opened, and then as soon as it is closed again, the drive activity light comes on and stays on, and nothing can then be done with the drive until the system is restarted.

Anyone ever come accross such a problem, and do you think this has anything to do with the Network Card I installed or is this purely coincidence ???

Any thoughts would be appreciated !

Have tried taking the network out of your system & deleting the drivers?
If you have do the other pieces of hardware start working again?
If they do then get your network card replaced. You could either try another belkin or a different make. Personally I would try another make of card.
