We have about 500 websites, most of which have the same basic text. Each is "owned" by a separate distributor and has a different name and address, but the vast majority of the distributors just copy the standard text about two bland, useless paragraphs on to their site and forget them. We also get a lot of distributors who abandon site because they drop out.

I'm worried that search engines will interpret this as spam.

I don't imagine that they would penalise a second site just because the text on the first site was "common" across others.

For example, there are many instances of shakespeare quotes on web sites... and it would not make sense to penalise all web sites that include a specific quote just because one of the websites that included that quote was doing something wrong.

Well... that's what I reckon!

Cheers,
Jeff

One more point about these sites. Each has the same root. I.E. http:\\corpsite\jones, http:\\corpsite\smith, etc. This is because we do all the hosting.
