Hi,

I have a PC with the following spec:

- On Board IDE
- Support ULTRA DMA-33 Bus Master IDE, Provide faster transfer rate up to 33M Bytes/s

I wish to upgrade the hard drive with the following:

- Fast ATA/Enhanced IDE compatible
- Ultra ATA/133 Data Transfer Rate

Is the fact that the spec says that it supports ULTRA DMA-33 going to be a problem with a hard drive that supports ULTRA 133? Will the disk be running belows its potential? Can anything be done to improve this?

You would need to buy a PCI ATA/133 controller card. Of course, PCI cards wouldn't be as fast as Onboard support, but it's the workaround for older systems.

You could use the hard drive without the add-in card, but it would default to ATA/33 and definitely be below it's potential.

Hope this helps...
