Using a Sony AIT2 autoloader. My tapes are rated 50/100. The majority of the files we backup are autocad drawings and we are getting about 65gb on each tape. Is this good compression and is there anything I can do to get better compression? We are running Arcserve 2000 with the latest svc pack.

Thanks

While it's not the best, yes it's compression. I've found that whether I turn compression on, or turn it on via hardware, Arcserve seems to have a mind of it's own, and uses whatever it feels like. I've even seen it change ratios on different sessions within the same job!

hehe, the ratios change relative to the data being backed up. CAD drawing would not have a huge compression rate where as if it were big text files, you would fit terrabytes onto the tape.

just a thought
