Is this a resources issue or a hardware problem?

I'm still having problems with my pc and they are now worst than ever- I can't even open Excel at the moment whereas my pc would previously crash when I went into print preview. When I click print preview in MS-Excel it crashes.

I've rebooted 6 times today and defragmented all my drives to no avail. I received the following message when attempting to open Excel:

"Excel caused a general protection fault in module USER.EXE at 0003:00003546"

This is the first time I've got this message usually it says I'm dangerously low on resources: I've got 78% system resource free and 262 MB free on my C drive. My pst files are saved to my D drive and I've got 556 MB free on there.

I'm thinking of re-imaging my PC any idea's guys. Thanks a lot

First, do a repair or reinstall of Office or Excel. Then patch it. Go to and let it scan for updates. It works just like Windows Update. You will need the CD's for it to work though. Another of Bill's antipiracy controls.
