Is this a CallPilot Dial-by-Name RPL issue?

I have a CallPilot application that contains a Thru-Dial block set to 'Allow dial by number or name.' This application is in turn assigned to an SDN (say, x1234).

When x1234 is dialed from another phone on the switch, and the Thru-Dial block is selected, the caller hears the prompt that says, "To enter a name, press XX, spell the last name, and then spell the first name." If they press XX and spell the name, it works fine.

When x1234 is dialed from outside the switch (e.g. calling 555-1234 from a mobile, or even dialing over the trunk by calling 9,5551234 from a phone on the switch), and the Thru-Dial block is selected, the caller hears the same prompt, but when they press XX and spell the name, CallPilot beeps and says, "That number cannot be reached from this service."

Is this an RPL issue? It seems like it must be, and so working on the assumption that it is, I'm only seeing two places where an RPL is defined:

1) The Thru-Dial block has an RPL. Changing this RPL has had no effect, e.g. doesn't matter if I use the built-in On Switch, Local, Long Distance, etc., the effect is the same as I describe above.

2) The SDN has an RPL, under the 'Callback Handling' section. This doesn't seem like it would be relevant, but just in case, I tried changing this RPL, and again, the effect was the same as I describe above.

Is there a mailbox class that is affecting this? The SDN in question (x1234) has the 'SDN overrides mailbox class' option checked, but it is also grayed out, so I can't uncheck it either.

If it's not an RPL issue, what would be causing this?

Is x1234 a local extension on your PBX?

Are you sure your RPLs are correct? If not please post them.

What is the CLS of your CallPilot Agent TNs?

Can you post a printout of your inbound trunk route?

Your problem could be caused by several things including:

RPL restrictions
CallPilot Agent class of service restrictions
Inbound Trunk Route restrictions

Any additional information you can provide from your configuration will help determine the actual cause.

Figured this one out with help from our AT&T project manager. The problem was that the mailboxes that we were trying to dial didn't have the 'Name dialable by external callers' option enabled. After enabling that in each affected mailbox (which was, unfortunately, a manual process of updating each mailbox one at a time), it works as expected.

Hopefully this help somebody else.
