I downloaded what I thought was the latest driver.
Can't figure out why colors on the plot are not matching what I'm seeing in the dwg on the monitor (hp 30"lcd 2560x1600 resolution)

Right-click on the printer, go to properties... there's a color managment tab there.

Are the colors *WAY* off? Or are they just a little off? What media are you printing on? And have you told the printer what media you're using?

The DesignJet 500 (as well as other HP plotters) will change its printing depending on what media you're using (plain paper, glossy photo, vellum, scrim, etc.)

You may also want the printer to do a calibration. Make sure that you are using a good, bright paper when you do the calibration (which is done automatically by the printer)

I changed back to coated paper, calibated the plotter, set the color options to "managed by application" and the colors are much better. thanks

You're welcome. I *LOVE* my DesignJet 500. It has given me almost no problems in 8 years.
