OK, just bought a notebook for our maintenance dept. It did not come with a parallel port. We need one for engine diagnostic cables. Is there such thing as a USb- parallel adapter cable or something?

Thanks
Matt

There is such a thing as a usb to parallel adaptor have used one in the past to get my parallel printer to work on usb only box it required drivers to be instaled was slow and expensive ( made by belkin)

Ok thanks, I will try their web site. I could only find USB to Centronix connection, I hope they have the DB 25 one.

Matt

Just google for 'usb to parallel'. You'll find a wealth of possibilities, and most are very affordable.

Good Luck.

The only issue you may face is if you have an older diagnostic software that won't recognize the USB through DOS. Many of the BIOS's now support a USB in DOS mode - so keep aware of that. There is always a solution to these sort of things, it sometimes takes some creativity and multiple dongle-to-dongle action for a solution. But you can almost always trick the software - even if you have to run in some funkified DOS mode settings through XP.
