Hi guys,

as you know we only can tell when the last time file get modified, I was wondering whether we can do as per my subject..

Im using solaris 8

Thanks heaps,

Not really. Sometimes the last modification time of the directory it is in (if no other files in that directory have been created or modified since) or the ctime of the file (use ls -lc to display it) will give you a clue, but they are updated by other changes such as when the file's attributes are modified.

Annihilannic.

In a UFS file system, the three dates you have on any file are Last Access time, Last Modification time, and Last Status Change time. None of these really correspond to creation time unless the file has never been modified or accessed in any way.
