Is there any way to filter outgoing VPN traffic by protocol?

We use Windows VPN Clients connecting to a Win2k3 VPN server.

I can't seem to find a way to instruct the VPN client to use the VPN for some protocols and not for others. For example I would like HTTP requests on port 80 to not use the VPN.

I can filter packets out when they hit the server side, but that's not what I'm after.

Basically I'm trying to optimise the internet connections for our remote users.

Any ideas?

What is doing the routing? If it's a Cisco, you can do this with access-lists. I am not sure about acl's in Windows, but I'm sure it can be done...

At the client end it's a Linksys WAG54G and at the server end it's a very old Intel Express 8100.

I'm unfamiliar with access-lists in the WAG54G - any idea on how to configure them?

Thanks

Only in Cisco routers...
If you can control the routing, you would deny http via the vpn, etc.
