Is there any way to adjust PAD levels on a Magix?? As in pad levels on T1's to adjust padding for DB loss.

I know that under Merlin DS1 provisioning there's an option for Line Compensation to adjust the dB level. Typically these levels shouldn't have to be altered since the default level would accomodate pretty long last hops from telco's demarc to the customer premise equipment.

Here are the specs from Avaya docs:

Setting
dB Loss
Cable Length (22-Gauge Wire)

1
0.6
0-133 feet (0-40.5 meters)

2
1.2
133-266 feet (40.5-81 meters)

3
1.8
266-399 feet (81-121.5 meters)

4
2.4
399-533 feet (121.5-162 meters)

5
3.0
533-655 feet (162-199.5 meters)

Kill, My curiosity is getting the better of me. Is that the answer you were looking for?

Well, maybe. It's the best explanation of this also.
I'm a PBX man (Definity's, NEC 2000's and other more flexible systems). I know the Magix in and out for what it can do. You have the control and flexibility to adjust and build everything in other switches.
So I've been in a rut with a DB loss problem with 2 networked magix's. If these were other systems, the problem would of been resolved ages ago with ease. So I've been playing with combinations of answers I've gotten on here.
I knew what the line comp did to a degree, but your explanation on it helped me the most to see something that I want to play with to try and fix this.

Thanks,

I have read other posts on here that have the same problem. Low volume with networked swtiches. I guess someone did say to try the line comp...

Yup, those were my posts most likely.

How many miles apart were your respective PBX'es? My situation involves two sites which are about 15 miles apart. We keep the same LEC all the way through so perhaps there are fewer handoffs involved. Tandem networked volume is acceptable at the default 1 Line Comp setting. Lucky us I suppose :)

I'm only about 3 - 5 miles I believe.
